Course 7 — Installation Practice

This Level 3 Field Practice course is for installers, plumbers and electricians who put heat pumps on site. It assumes you know the basic refrigeration cycle and hydronic terms from earlier courses. After it you will be able to: (1) survey a site and spot problems before the truck arrives; (2) lay out, size and fit the water side with the right valves, strainers and vessels; (3) braze, pressure-test, evacuate and charge a split system safely; (4) wire, earth and commission a unit and avoid the ten most common installation mistakes.
