A dryer that keeps its heat
A conventional dryer heats outside air, passes it over the product once and blows it away — and every kilowatt it burned goes with it. A Sunniva heat pump dryer keeps the air in a closed loop, takes the water out of it as liquid and puts the heat straight back in. Six modules, 12 to 120 litres of water an hour, drying air to 70 °C.
Drying chillies, mango, moringa, prawns, papad or agarbatti? The dryer calculator lists 138 products and sizes a module for your batch in a minute — with the cost per batch against LPG, diesel, wood or electric heaters.
How the closed loop works
The same air goes round and round. Only the water leaves — as liquid, down a drain.
Is this the right range for you?
The boundaries below are the published ones, not sales judgement.
Yes, if all of these are true
- You dry in batches, on trays or trolleys, in a chamber
- The product is dried at 70 °C or below
- You are replacing sun drying, or a diesel, LPG, wood or electric dryer
- You lose somewhere between 12 and 120 litres of water an hour
Look elsewhere if
- You need hot water or process water, not dry air — see all ranges
- The process needs air hotter than 75 °C
- You run a continuous belt or tunnel line — see Customized
What you can dry
138 products are listed in the dryer calculator, each with typical moisture figures, drying temperature and time. Tap a group or a product to size a dryer for it.
Mango slices, Mango powder (amchur slices), Banana slices / chips, Raw banana (for flour) and more
Red chilli (whole), Green chilli, Turmeric (boiled fingers), Dry ginger (sonth) and more
Moringa leaves, Tulsi (holy basil), Mint leaves, Coriander leaves and more
Ashwagandha roots, Shatavari roots, Giloy (guduchi) stems, Safed musli and more
Key features
What the module is, from its specification.
Closed air loop — the drying air is recirculated, never vented
R134a heat pump circuit, drying air rated to 70 °C (75 °C maximum)
Water leaves as liquid, through a condensate drain
Works in ambients from −5 to 43 °C
Single-phase or three-phase on the smallest module, three-phase above
Six modules, 10.5 to 100 kW heating, 12 to 120 L/h moisture removal

All modules: R134a · drying air rated 70 °C, maximum 75 °C · working ambient −5 to 43 °C. Capacities, input power and current are Sunniva’s rated figures; the specification does not name the chamber air condition they were measured at, so they are published as rated values rather than against a test condition. * Derived: moisture removal ÷ input power. Module weight, air flow and sound level are not yet published — ask us before you finalise a chamber.
More water out than the electricity could evaporate
Evaporating a kilogram of water takes about 2,450 kJ — 0.68 kWh. So a resistance heater, even a perfect one with no losses, can never remove more than about 1.47 kg of water per kWh. A heat pump dryer can, because it recovers the heat of evaporation on the evaporator and uses it again. On their rated figures these modules remove:
What will it take to dry your product?
Pick from 138 products — fruit, vegetables, spices, herbs, fish, grain, food products and more — or enter your own. The dryer calculator works out the water to take out, the module that covers it, the tray area, and what each batch costs against LPG, diesel, wood or electric heaters.
Benefits
What it does for the business, rather than what is in the box.
The heat is used twice
The heat that evaporates the water is recovered on the evaporator and put back on the condenser. A vented dryer pays for that heat once and loses it up the exhaust.
Drying that ignores the weather
Sun drying stops for cloud, rain and night, and picks up dust and insects while it waits. A closed chamber dries to the same programme every batch, all year.
A temperature the product can take
The drying air is held at a set temperature up to 70 °C, so heat-sensitive products are dried gently instead of being scorched at the hot end of a burner.
No fuel, no flue, no smoke
There is nothing to burn, store or deliver, and nothing to taint the product. The running cost is an electricity bill you can measure per batch.
Common questions
The ones our engineers are actually asked.
What does the dehumidifying capacity actually mean?
Will it dry my product?
How hot can it dry?
Does it come with a drying chamber?
Is there a single-phase model?
Why is it cheaper to run than an electric or LPG dryer?
Does the weather matter?
