A split unit — outside stays outside
The compressor sits outdoors and the cylinder sits indoors, with nothing but a pair of thin refrigerant lines between them. No hot water runs through the wall, no tank has to stand in the weather, and the cylinder can go where the bathrooms are rather than where the roof allows.
Is this the right range for you?
Two minutes here saves a wasted quotation. The boundaries below are the published ones, not sales judgement.
Yes, if all of these are true
- A flat, villa or house on a single hot water system
- 150 to 500 litres of storage is enough
- The cylinder has to sit indoors, away from the outdoor unit
- You are retrofitting where a geyser used to be
Look at another range if
- You want one cabinet and one connection — see All in One Heat Pump
- More than about 1,000 litres a day — see Commercial Heat Pump
- Winter ambients below −5 °C — see EVI Heat Pump
Applications
Where this range is normally installed.
Key features
What is inside the cabinet, and why each of them is there.
Micro-channel heat exchanger wrapped around the outside of the tank
Glass enamel lined steel cylinder with a magnesium anode
R134a rotary compressor, 220 V single phase
Electric back-up element for 75 °C when it is wanted
Intelligent wired controller with a 5 m lead
Six protections including high and low refrigerant pressure
Models in this range
Five tank sizes on three outdoor units. Figures are the manufacturer’s ratings — read the note under the table before sizing to a cold-weather duty.
| Model | Storage | Heating capacity | Rated input | COP | Electric back-up | Tank ø × H |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SE-AH-4|150S | 150 L | 3.3 kW | 800 W | 4.10 | 1.5 kW | 500 × 1330 mm |
| SE-AH-5|200S | 200 L | 5 kW | 1200 W | 4.17 | 1.5 kW | 500 × 1680 mm |
| SE-AH-5|300S | 300 L | 5 kW | 1200 W | 4.17 | 2 kW | 560 × 1805 mm |
| SE-AH-7|400S | 400 L | 7.2 kW | 1750 W | 4.11 | 2 kW | 700 × 1590 mm |
| SE-AH-7|500S | 500 L | 7.2 kW | 1750 W | 4.11 | 2 kW | 700 × 1940 mm |
Heating capacity, input power and COP are the manufacturer's rated figures. The source sheet does not state the ambient and water temperatures they were measured at, so they are published here as rated values rather than against a named test condition. Ask us before sizing to a cold-weather duty. A 100 litre model (SE-AH-4|100S) also sells on the channel price list; its data sheet is being prepared and it is not listed above.
Benefits
What this range does for the building, rather than what is in the box.
The cylinder goes where you want it
Refrigerant runs between the outdoor unit and the tank, not water. Three metres of pipe comes as standard, so the tank can sit in a utility room next to the bathrooms instead of on the roof.
Nothing hot in the wall
The heat is made at the tank, not carried to it. There is no insulated flow and return to lose heat in a wall cavity, and nothing outdoors to freeze.
Water never meets refrigerant
The micro-channel exchanger is bonded to the outside of the cylinder, under the insulation. A refrigerant leak cannot reach the potable water.
55 °C on the heat pump, 75 °C when you need it
The compressor does the everyday work. The element is there for a cold morning or a full house, not for every draw-off.
How much storage do you need?
The domestic sizing tool is in preparation. In the meantime the calculator index will point you at the nearest one, or send us the occupancy and we will size it.
And what every Sunniva heat pump gives you
True of the whole range, not just this one.
- Up to 75 % off water heating against electric, LPG or PNG
- Quick payback and strong return on investment
- The longest product life of any common water-heating technology
- Silent operation
- Hot water round the year, independent of sunlight
- Lower carbon emissions
- Negligible maintenance cost
- Saves space against a boiler or a solar-thermal field
Common questions
The ones our engineers are actually asked.
How far can the outdoor unit be from the tank?
Does the refrigerant touch the drinking water?
What happens in winter?
How is this different from the All in One?
How much noise does the outdoor unit make?
Manuals and related ranges
Performance figures are published test data at the stated conditions and are not a guarantee for a specific installation. Draw-off pattern, pipe runs, water quality, static head and local code all affect the final selection — confirm with Sunniva Encon LLP before ordering.
