Course 1 — Heat, Energy and Refrigeration Basics

This is a Level 1 Foundations course for everyone: students, new technicians, plumbers and facility staff. No prior engineering study is needed. After this course you will be able to: (1) explain the difference between heat and temperature and convert between kW, kcal/h, TR and BTU/h; (2) calculate the heat needed to warm water or change its phase; (3) read a refrigerant pressure and know its saturation temperature; (4) explain why a heat pump delivers more heat than the electricity it uses.
