Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are critical contributors to India’s industrial ecosystem, but their transition to energy-efficient technologies has often been constrained by limited financial access. To address this challenge, the Ministry of Power (MoP), in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), has introduced the Assistance for Deployment of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industrial Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme.
Overview of ADEETIE:
The Assistance for Deployment of Energy Efficient Technologies in Industrial Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme is a targeted policy intervention aimed at enabling MSMEs to adopt modern, energy-efficient technologies. Its primary objective is to provide comprehensive financial and technical support, thereby reducing the barriers to technology adoption.
Key features of the scheme include:
- Interest Subvention: Loans extended to MSMEs for energy efficiency projects will be supported with interest subventions — 5% for micro and small enterprises and 3% for medium enterprises.
- Structured Implementation: The scheme encompasses widespread promotion, investment-grade energy audits, detailed project report (DPR) preparation, and continuous monitoring and verification.
- Sectoral and Cluster Coverage: The initiative covers MSMEs in 14 energy-intensive sectors across 60 industrial clusters in the initial phase, with an additional 100 clusters planned in the subsequent phase.
- Financial Outlay and Anticipated Investment: With a budgetary allocation of ₹1000 crore, the scheme is expected to catalyze investments of approximately ₹9000 crore, leveraging a 75:25 debt-equity ratio.
Role of Sunniva Encon:
While the scheme provides the framework, the effective realization of its objectives requires dedicated facilitation and sector-specific expertise. Sunniva Encon plays a pivotal role in bridging this gap by assisting MSMEs in accessing loans and related financial incentives under ADEETIE.
Sunniva Encon’s contributions include:
- Advisory and Technical Support: Guiding enterprises through investment-grade audits, DPR development, and compliance processes.
- Financial Facilitation: Assisting MSMEs in preparing loan applications and engaging with nodal banks.
- Implementation Support: Providing sustained handholding throughout project execution, from conceptualization to verification.
Policy Significance:
The collaboration between policy frameworks such as ADEETIE and MSMEs strengthens the implementation ecosystem. By ensuring that financial support translates into practical outcomes on the ground, this approach enhances the competitiveness of MSMEs, contributes to national energy efficiency targets, and promotes sustainable industrial development.
ADEETIE (with colobration with BEE), thus represents a pragmatic pathway for accelerating energy transition within India’s MSME sector.
