What are you drying?
Pick your product from 138 we have listed — fruit, vegetables, spices, herbs, fish, grain, food products and more — or enter your own. You get the water to take out, the Sunniva dryer module that covers it, and what each batch costs against electric heaters, LPG, diesel or wood. Every figure updates as you type, and the method is at the bottom.

Want this checked by an engineer?
Your name, phone and email go on the saved sheet and let our team confirm the module and design the chamber around your product. Drying behaviour varies with variety, cut and season, so we often suggest a trial batch. All three are needed before the sheet can be sent or saved.
How this is worked out
- Water to take out = fresh weight × (moisture in − moisture out) ÷ (100 − moisture out), all wet basis. Drying 100 kg at 80 % down to 10 % takes out 77.8 kg — not 70.
- Rated capacity needed = water ÷ drying time ÷ batch utilisation. The modules’ dehumidifying capacity is a rated figure; over a real batch the product gives up water more and more slowly, so the average is lower. The default 65 % is a typical allowance and is a slider.
- Electricity = water ÷ (the module’s rated kg of water per kWh × batch utilisation). Rated figures are from Sunniva’s specification table: 2.18–2.75 kg per kWh.
- Conventional dryers burn about 1.2–3.0 kWh of heat per kg of water, because they heat outside air once and vent it. Fuel = that heat ÷ burner efficiency ÷ calorific value: LPG 12.8 kWh/kg, diesel 10 kWh/litre, wood 4.2 kWh/kg; electric heaters 100 %.
- Product figures are typical starting values for tray drying, not measurements of your product. Variety, ripeness, cut and season all move them — which is why every one is a slider, and why we suggest a trial batch before a large order.
- Drying temperature is recorded for the chamber setting. Below 70 °C the module removes water more slowly than its rating; the batch utilisation allowance covers the usual case, and we confirm it on your product.
- Payback is simple payback — the price you type in, divided by the annual saving. No price of ours is assumed or shown. Carbon is the displaced fuel’s emissions minus the electricity the dryer draws, at the grid figure in the assumptions.
- Indicative only. Chamber construction, air path, loading and local conditions all affect the result — confirm with Sunniva Encon LLP before ordering.
